Bower

The Bower; a secret place to hide precious things collected, coveted, stolen…..

The Bower is woven from mixed fiber remnants, the floor weaving is nalbinding style.
Wire is used in the supporting frame & woven in, branches & sticks of bottle-brush are woven in to create a nook where my Mother’s jewelry that wasn’t stolen when she died, has been placed.

We all need a secret place that is safe, even the thief.
Like the Bower bird who stole my crystals that caught the morning sun.

Outside the Bower life continues, a Dragonfly lands on a branch, butterflies flit around, flowers open & leaves fall, mushrooms grow in the shadows, another day begins.

The Bower was in “Re-imagined” 2018 A Challenge with a Difference” a virtual exhibition at Rug Hooking Week in Sauder Village, Ohio, USA .
